The region is also known for its stunning Armenian and Seljuk ruins and the hospitality of the local Kurdish people.  Mt Nemrut has wonderful volcanic lakes and hot springs to swim in and also provides for a great introduction to this exciting area.

Mt Suphan stands at an impressive 4434m and overlooks the ancient Seljuk fortress of Adilcevaz and also commands an impressive view of the massive Lake Van.  Mt Suphan is a fairly easy climb and serves as a great acclimatization fort the harder and higher trek to the summit of Mount Ararat. 

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: You will be met in İstanbul by our staff. Internal flight to Van Sightseeing around Van, see Van Castle and old Armenian Ahtamar church Dinner with your guide and your fellow trekkers.        

Day 2: Start trek – firstly we visit Mt Nemrut – 2,600m - and have a swim in the high altitude volcanic lake– and explore the sights of Mt Nemrut.  Camp overnight at Mt Nemrut. 

Day 3: Head to Mt Suphan and set up camp at around 3,000m.  The camping area is used by the nomadic people to graze their sheep and goats. 

Day 4: Ascend Mt Suphan – 4434m and marvel at the spectacular view of Lake Van and the surrounding mountains.

Day 5: Drive to Dogubuyazit on the way visit a Waterfall of Muradiye Diner at Dogubayazit.

Day 6:  Go to Mt Ararat by truck 2000m.  On the way you will see some small Kurdish villages/

Our first overnight camp here is at 3,200 – Green camp.

On the way up to green camp you can observe some of the nomadic people who live on the mountain.  In the summer months the local people herd their sheep and goats in the rugged terrain of Mt Ararat.

We can also arrange for you to visit the nomadic people and experience their way of life.

Day 7: Trek to 4,200 to the beach camp – the highest beach camp in the world.  Today will also be an important day for you to acclimatize before we head to the peak.

Day 8: Summit day – 5,165m.Early in the morning we will being our ascent to the peak.  You will have plenty of time to explore the peak before we return to green camp – 3,200m. Return back to a warm hotel and a hot shower in Dogubuyazit

Day 9: Visiting day of around Dogubayazit Ishak pasha palace and ark of Noah Optional visit hot springs of Diyadin.

Day10: Transfer to Van Airport for departure to İstanbul.
